We invite you to enjoy Holiday Cards from years past.
Christmas...
Traditions, memories and expectations.
Each November we go through the process of trying to decide on an image that will carry the message of the season and
capture the essence of the season.
A winter scene, a frosted cone and various critters have all been portrayed.

Our Christmas cards are created by the block printing technique: removal of everything on a block that you do not want to have color. If you
use several colors you have to repeat this step for each color. You print these on card stock, lining them up carefully, drying each color
thoroughly before applying the next color ink. This process is tedious and exacting and since we use oil-based ink kind of messy.

Please join us in cards throughout the years.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas
Chicken

This was the
beginning of it all. I
had not done a
Christmas Card for
years. This was
during the time we
were raising
chickens: this year
Rhode Island Reds.

Pine Cone

The first of the
multi-plate printing
process.
This is a print of a
White Pine cone.
The ends of each
scale are outlined
with sap just before
they fall.

A Very
Larry
Christmas

Larry, a most
unique and
friendly
orange cat,
here in front
of the long
building we
call "The
Quad". This
refers to the
four major
uses: garage,
shop, garden
and studio.

The Farmhouse
Here is the farmhouse. The spruce in the front is now 25
feet tall and decorated with lights each year. The lindens
had been moved a year or so before and the kitchen
garden gatehouse just built.
2006
Dove of Peace
What the world needed more,  now than ever.
One of my personal favorites.

Winter Rabbit
on Toad Hill

We have a
love/hate
relationship the
rabbits and deer
here on the farm
.
Here is a winter
scene done in
four color stages.

The next two years we did not do Block Print cards. As far as I can recall these were the
years we were back and forth between the Farm and New London, Connecticut.

This Year's Tree
Yes, we do actually take a sled and saw out and cut
our own tree.
2009

Tree

Asian inspired.
I was
experimenting
with variations in
the background
inks.
2010
Winter Sheep
Ah, the sheep. Charming little nitwits.
We did not actually have them into the winter but this is
how they would have looked.
2011
All is Bright
A cold winter night with a full moon.
Features our cat, Loretta. She was an active participant
in the studio as I was carving and printing the cards.
All our best wishes to you in the New Year!
