Artist's Note I have loved oil paintings from as long as I can remember. The grace and light of Monet. The stunning technique of John Singer Sargent. The bold strokes of Fechin. Daunting standards to hold yourself against. I decided to try my hand with oils in about 2006 or so. Here are a few galleries of my works. Please click on the picture next to the gallery description to visit that gallery. |
People and Places Here you will find paintings inspired by the idea of public art spaces as the backdrop for private moments. My inspiration is derived by Elaine Coffee. Her painting "Afternoon at the Met" was the first oil painting we purchased. In addition to these paintings from the Louvre you will find paintings which do not fall in any one category easily. They will range from scenes from a Palm Springs Art Fair to Italy to rural France. Click here to go there. |
Scenes from the Farm In this Gallery you will find paintings from the farm. Rural scenes. Personal moments. In this gallery you will see images of the fruits of our work here on the farm. The produce and essentials of our life here. Toadhill has been home for now for over 14 years. We live on 160 acres of rolling hills, fields, wetlands and gardens. Other guests have been chickens, sheep, turkeys, ducks, and this year, 17 steers. We grow much of our own produce and are continuing to refine our wine and hard apple cider. Click here to go there. |
Flowers In this Gallery you will find paintings which reflect all the ephemeral beauty of flowers. I prefer the very loose style of the ala prima method which forces me to be concise as well as speedy. The paintings reflect the vibrancy, beauty and ephemeral quality which has always made me love flowers. This is why flowers are such a huge component of our life here on the farm. Christmas Cards Through the years. Since 2000 we have celebrated Christmas at the Farm and for the majority of the years we have sent out block print cards to our friends and family. These cards are done in oil and involve a multi-block process: one block for each color. We invite you to visit our Christmas cards past! Click here to go there. |
