Artist's Note
Watercolors.
This has to be the medium which appears to be the easiest to use. I was exposed to it in Elementary school: those long thin
metal flip open boxes with 8 hard little ovals of color. The Asian artist used it freely and loosely in a style I can only hope to
imitate. Water colors were also such an important documenting tool for early explorers and scientists. As a water soluble
pigment it was both transportable and quick drying.
You will notice many of my first watercolors were done in the English tradition of
watercolor-drawing technique: layer
after layer of gradual color build-up with a relatively dry brush. Subtle. Exact.
Tedious.
