Hello and welcome to my online art gallery. I hope you enjoy the images that capture my attention and find their way onto my canvases. I work mainly in oils, but also have an interest in water color, pastels, and block printing. My home studio is on Harriet Island in St Paul, Minnesota. I love painting outdoors as well.
Painting is a language for me. It's how I speak to you about the beauty and wonder I see around me every day. As Aristotle once said, "The aim of art is to represent, not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance." When I paint a lovely flower, people having private moments in public settings, or the human figure, I'm speaking of their inner meaning and beauty. I paint, in other words, in order to tell you the story I see before me. Thanks for listening.
I have always loved plants and horticulture. In the past, I worked in the design industries dealing with floral design and gardening. I have also had large floral gardens of my own and you'll see many still life settings and floral images in my work.
I'm also interested in the human figure, and have been working more and more in that area this past year. I love capturing private moments in public settings. People who are just going about their daily business are very interesting to me!
Most of my works are for sale. To initiate a purchase or send me a note, please use the contact links scattered throughout the galleries. Please make reference to the catalog number for the works in which you're interested. Thanks again for visiting this online gallery. Isn't it a beautiful world?
